Van 't Hek Groep works daily on a solid foundation for its clients. The total provider in the field of foundation techniques has strengthened its own management with a new position: Purchasing Manager. Van 't Hek Groep engaged Lodiers & Partners for the search and selection. "The Van 't Hek Group consists of seven subsidiaries with various specialisms in the field of foundation techniques," says managing director Ted van 't Hek. "An engineering firm construction company are also part of the group. We are active at home and abroad. In the Netherlands we do many different assignments, such as pile-driving for buildings, bridges and viaducts. With Vanthek International, we carry out foundation projects worldwide, especially on the border of land and water, such as the foundation for a quay wall."
The seven companies of the Van 't Hek Group operate largely autonomously. "Our subsidiaries have a high degree of independence and room to do business," says Van 't Hek. "At the same time, we noticed opportunities in the field of procurement to do things better and smarter. By organizing purchasing centrally, we can achieve purchasing, alignment and quality benefits."
Via a mutual acquaintance, Van 't Hek came into contact with Robert Lodiers. "The moment we asked ourselves whether we wanted to take the step to appoint a Purchasing Manager group-wide, coincided with my first acquaintance with Robert. Lodiers & Partners has specific expertise in construction, technology, and industry. Exactly what we needed at that moment."
Van 't Hek Groep is a family business where the third generation van 't Hek has been in charge since 2012. "The great involvement and commitment of our 360 employees is our great strength," says Ted van 't Hek. "Both our own people and our clients need to feel at home with us. As a family business, we are strongly focused on the long term. On average, our employees are in long-term employment contracts and we also have long relationships with customers and suppliers. We have been working with some of them for 40 years. That was also an important factor in the search for a purchasing manager. It should be a person who is able to improve agreements with suppliers and make use of opportunities back and forth, but also someone who is focused on maintaining and strengthening relationships. A good balance between them is very important to us."
Another wish: the candidate for the position should preferably have no experience in the foundation world. "A fresh look from the outside provides new ideas and insights," says Van 't Hek. "At the same time, we were looking for an experienced force in the field of procurement with knowledge of developments in our industry in areas such as safety, sustainability and logistics."
