Our client Veth Propulsion is an internationally operating assembler of individually designed propulsion systems for ships. Veth Propulsion engineers, manufactures, installs and maintains rudder propellers, bow thrusters, and control systems. The company is also a supplier and servicer of diesel engines and generator sets. Veth Propulsion operates in three areas: custom made engineered projects, service/aftersales projects, and spare parts. Founded in 1951, its quality equipment has been widely respected by shipyards and naval architects worldwide. In 2018, the company was acquired by Twin Disc, Inc. an US publicly traded company (NASDAQ) and continues to expand its global sales and service network. 

Veth Propulsion is based in Papendrecht and employs around 165 people. Veth Propulsion is an innovative and hands-on company with short communication lines. The position 
As Manager Finance, IT & Facilities you will be responsible for the further growth, financial health and development of the organization. This is done by:

• structuring, optimizing and empowering your teams;
• further alignment and collaboration with the other Veth Propulsion departments as a strategic business partner. 

As Manager Finance, IT & Facilities you are part of the Veth Propulsion Management Team which consists of the General Manager, Operations Manager, Sales and R&D Manager, HR Manager and Service Manager. You will lead a team of about thirteen colleagues and you report directly to the Director European Finance & Administration and to the General Manager of Veth Propulsion. 

The profile

• a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. An academic background with an emphasis on finance is preferred;
• a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance roles, including in an international capacity (US company);  
• a financial leader with experience in managing, motivating and developing a finance team. Proven ability in leading and developing disciplines in the field of IT, facility is a big plus; 
• Good knowledge of the international financial reporting standards, compliance and risk management practices; 
• knowledge of SOX and audits is essential and experience at a Big 4 firm would be highly advantageous;
• proper knowledge of current legislation and regulations and US GAAP;
• (hands-on) experience in optimizing/enhancing financial processes and implementing systems to achieve operational excellence; 
• experience in determining and directing the implementation of strategic business   and/or operational plans, projects, programs and systems;
• the internal drive to look beyond your responsibilities in improving and bringing the organization to the next level; 
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels;
• a leadership style based on clarity and consistency, strong teamwork, ownership with a human touch in managing people with the capability to motivate, develop, facilitate and enthuse them; 
• personal skills: strong leader, entrepreneurial and enthusiastic go-getter, lead by example, strong conceptual skills, but also hands-on; 
• excellent verbal & written communication skills in Dutch and English.
